Maternity Sweatpants, Sweatshirts and Sweatsuit Sets

Sweats are the pieces that end up doing most of the work in a pregnancy, because they are the only thing that stays comfortable whether you are at a desk, on a plane or at home at 38 weeks. This collection is 24 maternity sweatpants, sweatshirts, joggers and matching sweatsuit sets in sizes XS through 3XL, most of them cut with nursing access so they keep working after the birth.

The range covers full sweatsuit sets in cocoa, navy, light marl grey and grey, standalone sweatpants in black, snow marle, baby blue, lilac and light blue, sweatshirts and sweat tops in sage, grey, iced coffee and coral, zip-front nursing hoodies in charcoal and sea mist, and low waist joggers in black and teal. Fabric is a weighted cotton blend with real stretch, heavy enough to hold its shape and light enough to wear across seasons.

Sweatpants, a Set, or a Sweatshirt on Its Own?

  • Sweatpants alone: the highest wear-count item in the collection. The Ultimate Comfort pants in black or snow marle and the Alanna comfort pants have a high stretch waistband that sits over the bump without a seam across it.
  • Matching sweatsuit set: the Calla set in cocoa, navy or light marl grey and the Josie set in grey. A set reads as a deliberate outfit rather than as loungewear, which is what makes it wearable outside the house.
  • Sweatshirt on its own: the Calla sweatshirt in iced coffee and the sweatshirts in sage and grey. These pair with maternity leggings or jeans and are the easiest way to make the rest of your wardrobe work longer.
  • Zip front for nursing: the Harper sweatshirt with zipper in apricot, the Alanna zipper track top and the nursing hoodies in charcoal and sea mist. A full zip is the fastest feeding access there is.
  • Low waist joggers: in black or teal blue, for anyone who finds a full over the bump panel too warm.

Why Buy Maternity Sweats Rather Than Just Sizing Up?

Buying regular sweatpants two sizes up is the obvious shortcut and it fails in two specific ways. The waistband still sits under the bump and rolls, because the rise was never cut for a belly; and the extra fabric lands on the seat and thigh, so you end up with a baggy leg and a waistband that still does not work. Maternity sweats put the extra room and the stretch panel exactly where the bump is and leave the leg at your normal size.

The same is true of sweatshirts. A regular one rides up at the front as the bump fills it out, so the hem ends up sitting above the belly. Maternity cut adds length at the center front so the hem stays level, which is the difference between looking like you chose the outfit and looking like you borrowed it.

Sizing and Fabric

Order your usual pre-pregnancy size. These are cut relaxed with the bump allowed for, so sizing up mostly drops the shoulder on the tops and adds bulk through the seat and leg on the bottoms. Sizes here run XS to 3XL, with some sets sold in XS/S, M/L and XL/2XL groupings, and a measurement chart on every product page.

The weighted cotton blend is warm enough for a cold morning without being a winter-only fabric, and the ribbed cuffs and hems stop the pieces losing shape at the edges. Wash cool and tumble low to keep the ribbing tight. Free shipping applies on orders over $100.

Maternity Sweats FAQs

What size maternity sweatpants should I order?

Your usual pre-pregnancy size. The stretch waistband is built to cover the bump through the whole pregnancy, so sizing up mainly makes the seat and leg baggy rather than giving you more room where you need it. Sizes run XS to 3XL.

Do maternity sweatshirts work for breastfeeding?

The zip front ones do, and they are the fastest access of any style. The Harper zipper sweatshirt, the Alanna zipper track top and the nursing hoodies all open fully at the front. The pull-on sweatshirts are maternity only.

Are these warm enough for winter?

The weighted cotton blend sets and the hoodies are, worn on their own indoors or under a coat outside. The lighter sweat tops and the cotton shorts in this collection are three-season pieces rather than deep winter ones.

Can I wear maternity sweats after the baby?

They are among the pieces most people wear the longest. The waistband folds down into a high waisted one, the zip fronts keep working for feeding, and the fabric is forgiving through the weeks when nothing else fits properly yet.

Is a set better value than buying separately?

Usually yes, and the practical advantage is bigger than the price one: a matching top and pant reads as an outfit, so you can leave the house in it without thinking about whether the two pieces go together.
